Review - Maitreya Slinky Stilettos

When sculpties were first introduced to secondlife, I knew it would change the way we (consumers) looked at things. I remember being upset at first because we had so much going wrong with the gird, I felt bringing in more things probably meant putting fixing those things on the back burner. But I guess I was wrong, the grid is slowly being fixed, and we now have sculpties, windlight (although not 100% fixed), voice and we’re only going forward. I can’t wait to see what SL will have to offer a year from today.
But, today’s post isn’t about the grid. It’s about my new shoes, created by the very talented Maitreya duo of Onyx LeShelle and Beauvoir Rousselot. Now why would I bring up the history of sculpties if I am blogging their shoes? Because Maitreya was the first content creator to spark my appreciation for sculpties. I remember drooling and thanking the SL gods when the Dune boots were released. I couldn’t believe how real the boots looked, from the perfect heel, to the perfect wrinkles, it was everything and anything a girl could ask for.
It’s been 7 months now since the first sculptie release by Maitreya, every release after that has left me wanting more. Their collection has gotten bigger and better, I can see improvements in detail and shadowing, and I can honestly tell you that it will only get better with time.
I’ve seen Onyx and Beauvoir work on shoes for weeks at a time; they both love perfection, their customers and enjoy giving them only the best.

The texture is amazing and I admit I just love the reflection on the shoes. My favorite color however, it’s the white. Only because we all know how hard it is to make white, really look white on SL. But they’ve managed to get it just right, so I finally have a pair of WHITE shoes that are actually WHITE, not gray.

A couple of days ago I was browsing through this RL magazine and was attracted to a picture of a girl wearing the cutest gauchos ever. I wondered if I could find something in-world to match these pants, but sadly I couldn’t. I was able to find some in my inventory from the old Elephant Outfitter, but I wasn’t sure basing my inspiration on pants that were no longer available would be a good thing, after all… I put these on my blog so others can achieve my look if they like it.
I sat there and rocked my brains for a while and then it hit me, Gillian had blogged a mix and match outfit a while back and in that entry she was wearing the cutest trousers and although they weren’t exactly gauchos, they were pretty damn close to it. So I tped to Fashionably Dead for my navy pants and was ready to go.
The rest of the outfit was easy to put together, I wanted my look to be professional, yet casual. I am finding my self to be obsessed with the Larue shirts from Celestial City, which btw aren’t actually shirts but part of a dress. Figured a little shrug would look just right with my top but I couldn’t find the right color, but thankfully Canimal made these shrugs mod and I was able to tint it to match my navy pants. The new Vintish-Silverish shoes from Aphrodite Creations were released just in time, as they match my top and buttons on the pants just perfect. A necklace, bracelet, some silver manicure and I was done and ready to face the SL world.
I’m also wearing the new prototype for MM Skins. Minnu has been working hard on making different faces for the Generation 3 skins and this is just one of the many faces to be released SOON! I have to admit, I wasn’t quite sure I liked it when I first saw it, but after some work and some Minnu magic, I’m finally happy with the ends results. I can’t wait to see it all finished! Today’s outfit, isn’t exactly an outfit I put together today, it’s the result of me being too busy to post my entry, therefore I’ve been running the grid wearing the same thing for about 2 days now. Not to mention the fact that I am just completely in love with my new Knit Jacket and it’s been hard to let go. A few days ago I went on a shopping trip with my friend and boss Minnu Palen and she mentioned wanting to show me a new store she felt had amazing content. Of course I’m all for finding new talent and spending my lindens on amazing new pretties, but I was a little hesitant at first because although Minnu has great taste she’s just a tad bit edgier than me and I wasn’t exactly sure I’d like her new discovery. Boy, was I wrong and in for a treat!
Mirai Jun owner of Cubic Effect has taken sculpties to a whole different level; I’m talking someone that can make a jacket look like a REAL jacket should look. Not only are her sculpted prims incredible but the textures, shadows and attention to detail are amazing. I was sold and ready to pair my new baby with some of my favorite items that I’ve purchased this year. The pants I’m wearing are by another new talent, Kotobuki Jewell of bijou. Be sure to visit both these stores for some amazing and unique designs. You won’t regret it!

So everyone’s been talking about Saeya’s new sim and I have to admit it is an amazing build and very original. I never expected any less coming from her. So I braved the lag the night it opened and bought everything. She’s got tons of new things, so be sure to tp on over and grab it all.
My outfit today was inspired by the collar in the “Deconstructed Socialite” outfit, I love everything about it– It’s dark, sexy, an amazingly crafted, but I’m a rebel so I decided to mash it up with some Silent Sparrow.
